Additive manufacturing using robots

Create an additive manufacturing cell using two classic robotsadditive

The additive manufacturing is an indispensable element in the Factory of the future. It refers to a process by which digital 3D design data is used to build up a component in layers by depositing material. By enabling a machine or a cell to produce objects of any shape, on the spot and as needed, Additive manufacturing really is ushering in a new era. This process enables producing some complex parts, but it especially permits to prototype some mechanical components quickly in order to design them better.
In this work package, we decided to create a link between robotics and additive manufacturing.

Activities

  • Find an aeronautical application (Part of a Turbofan, part of an engine nacelle, of a plane…)
  • Work with mechanical design students to create a robot with printing nozzle
  • Programming of a robot
  • Simulate and record the robot activities and then, the complete cell
